At Church Langton we pride ourselves on the sporting opportunities made available to the pupils through both the curriculum and extra-curricular activities. Physical activity promotes children’s strength, control and co-ordination, improving their physical competence and confidence as well as their ability to perform a wide range of activities.
We give all the children the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of physical activities. At least two hours of P.E. lessons are timetabled each week for every class and are delivered by our own sports coach. The school organises and enters sports events for pupils from years two to six while the house events offer further opportunities for the children to develop their skills.
Our considerable grounds offer three sports pitches as well as our astro turf all weather pitch provides excellent opportunities for our pupils throughout the year.
In addition, swimming lessons are held at Uppingham School Sports Centre for pupils in years three, four and five.
We are also delighted to work in partnership with the Langton Cricket Club which provides nets and the pitch for our home fixtures.
The curriculum sports offered include netball, football, basketball, dance, tag rugby, hockey, gynmastics, athletics, tennis, cricket and rounders.
At our school every Year 3 to Year 6 pupil has the opportunity to represent the School in competitive sport.
Our Sport and PE provision have been recognised through the school being awarded the Association for PE Quality Mark and the Sainsbury’s School Games Gold Award.
