PE and Sport
At Church Langton we pride ourselves on the sporting opportunities made available to the pupils through both the curriculum and extracurricular activities. Physical activity promotes children’s strength, control and co-ordination, improving their physical competence and confidence as well as their ability to perform a wide range of activities.
We give all children the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of physical activities. At least two hours of P.E. lessons are timetabled each week for every class. We take part in a variety of different sports events, giving children opportunities to develop their skills in different contexts and environments. Every Year 3 to Year 6 pupil has the opportunity to represent the School in competitive sport.
There is also a wide range of clubs children can participate in before and after school, including football, netball, basketball, dodgeball, archery, street dance, gymnastics, tae kwan do and general fitness.
We are proud to have achieved the Sports Gold Mark for the last three years (2022/2023/2024).
Our considerable grounds offer three sports pitches as well as our astro turf all weather pitch provides excellent opportunities for our pupils throughout the year.
In addition, swimming lessons are held at Uppingham School Sports Centre for pupils in years three, four and five.
We are also delighted to work in partnership with the Langton Cricket Club which provides nets and the pitch for our home fixtures.
