EYFS

At Church Langton, we are proud to provide an Early Years curriculum that engages, excites, and inspires. Our aim is to give every child a strong and secure foundation for future learning, enabling them to grow, achieve, and develop resilience, creativity, and independence.
Our Early Years provision builds on children’s preschool or nursery experiences and follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Our approach is play‑based, with a strong focus on developing communication, language, and a rich vocabulary, as we know, this underpins learning across all areas. We use a carefully chosen range of classic and contemporary texts to support and enhance this learning.
Although there is no completely ‘typical day’ in Reception, we ensure children experience a consistent routine that helps them feel safe, confident, and ready to learn. Their day includes whole-class sessions such as phonics and maths, alongside independent learning opportunities and focused activities taught by a teacher. When children are settled and confident, they also attend whole‑school assemblies.
Working closely with parents and carers, we nurture confident, independent, and happy learners who are able to make strong progress and reach their full potential during their time with us.
We use the online learning journal Tapestry to share observations and track children’s progress, and we welcome parents and carers to share learning from home too.
While we follow a carefully planned curriculum, we also prioritise time to follow the children’s own interests, supported by strong communication between home and school.
