Art

At Church Langton, Art, Design and Technology are taught by specialist staff in our dedicated art room, giving every pupil the opportunity to explore their creativity. Alongside timetabled lessons, we offer two vibrant art clubs where children can further develop their artistic skills and passion for the subject.

Throughout their time at school, pupils learn a wide range of art and design techniques, experimenting with different media and materials in both two and three dimensions. They explore colour, pattern, texture and shape through activities such as collage, painting, printing, sculpture and drawing.

Our curriculum is enriched by studying the work of both contemporary and historical artists, encouraging discussion and deepening pupils’ appreciation of art. We are proud to have our own kiln, enabling every child to experience the full process of working with clay—from shaping and firing to glazing and finishing.

Individual projects allow pupils to express their imagination and refine their observational skills, while collaborative projects teach the value of teamwork. Displays of pupils’ artwork are updated regularly throughout the school, showcasing the high standards and creativity that make this department so successful.
